Remember, when Gmail started out, it was so cool that they were offering 1 GB of space. 1 GB! Who on earth would need 1 GB?

As users quickly found out, 1 GB can get filled up really fast when you’re sending 7 mega-pixel photos of your kid from 12 different angles to everyone in your address book. Anyway, the Gmail team decided to continuously increase the storage space, and that has hit 5 GB yesterday.
