As ya’ll probably know, the French President, Nicholas Sarkozy, has a brand new Girl Friend. The french model, Carla Bruni and the President have been going around for a few weeks now amid a media frenzy. But this affair is causing weird international diplomatic problems: People don’t know how to treat President’s Girlfriends!
Saudi Arabia asked Sarkozy not to bring his GF when he comes visiting later this month, because of the strict Islamic laws around companionship between unmarried folks. The Indian government, too, is flip-flopping around how to treat his GF. They earlier said they’ll treat her like the First Lady, but now have reversed their stand.
It’ll be real fun when she comes. I wonder what our Lady President will tell the two? Probably something around the lines of “You two should get married!”
